(1) Rivals Unite To Support Scholarships And Promote Unity!

Longtime rivals Dearborn High, Edsel Ford, and Fordson (D.E.F.F.) will stand together on Sunday, October 11, 2015 as Dearborn’s three public high schools host the third annual Unity Run.

This race is open to students, staff and family members of DearbornPublic Schools and community members interested in supporting the work of the high schools students. The fun begins at 9:30 with a 1 mile walk open to all. Elementary students will hit the course at10:00 a.m. for a 1 mile race followed by a 2 mile race for middle school students starting at 10:30 a.m.  High school students and adults will be able to take part in a 5K run starting at 11:00 a.m.   Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (male/female) in each event except the 1-mile walk.

(2) Annual Run Continues to Grow! 

 – 4th Annual Robert Cipriano Cross-Country Meet Set For October 17

 The fourth annual Robert Cipriano Cross-Country Meet will get underway at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, with a one-mile run/walk for DearbornPublic Schools staff members at Dearborn’s Ford Field Park located at Brady Street and Monroe Street.

For students, the fun begins at 9 a.m. when hundreds of fourth through eighth graders will hit the course in a series of one and two mile races started in half hour intervals according to grade level and gender. The event is an opportunity for elementary and middle school teams from across the district to engage in some friendly competition while at the same time growing an interest in the sport of cross country and track.

The entire community is invited to come out to Ford Field to support the student runners and cheer for your favorite school!

(3) City, Beaumont Health invite all ages to the Healthy Dearborn Family Bike Ride onSunday, Oct. 18!

– First-time event to promote fun, fitness and wellness during guided bike ride  with police            assistance

The City of Dearborn and Beaumont Health are presenting a family-friendly guided bike ride through the heart of Dearborn on Sunday, Oct. 18.  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.; the ride starts at 10 a.m.

The bike ride begins and ends at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave., taking off from King Boring Field onto Greenfield Road.  From there, riders will follow a designated 6.5-mile route through the center of the city.

The Healthy Dearborn Family Bike Ride is part of the new HealthyDearborn initiative, aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles.  The ride will be family-friendly, and will be police-assisted. Riders of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Those who wish to participate in the event without going on the guided bike ride are invited to check out The Center free of charge on Oct. 18from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.  The Center’s fitness area and rock climbing wall will be available starting at 10 a.m. and open swimming will begin at11 a.m.

Families with young children and other cyclists who don’t want to ride on the road are welcome to pedal the outdoor paved path that surrounds The Center.
