2020-21 Kindergarten & Young 5s Registration News

All parents who have a child who will be five years old on or by September 1st, 2020 should plan on registering for the fall at their neighborhood elementary school. Unfortunately, all annual Kindergarten Round-Ups had to be cancelled due to the state wide school shutdown. It is important for parents to call Whitmore-Bolles and leave us a message if your child will be attending in the fall so that we can get information packets to you. We dropped roundup/registration packets off to families on our list over the weekend May 2-3, 2020. If you did not receive a packet, please call us at 313-827-6800 and leave us a voicemail.

Please use the link below to watch a presentation about this year’s unique registration process, Young 5s opportunities, Kindergarten readiness and videos from our Kindergarten and Young 5s teachers.

Under State law, a child must be 5 by September 1 to enroll in kindergarten. However, parents with a child whose 5th birthday falls after the September 1 deadline but before December 1 have until August 15 to complete a simple WAIVER that will allow them to enroll their child in kindergarten. We also offer a Young 5s program for students with summer and fall birthdays.

There is no waiver available for children turning 5 after December 1.
