I hope that everyone is enjoying the summer! It’s hard to believe that school will begin again in just under 3 weeks!
This year, Dearborn Public Schools has arranged for a “soft start” program for incoming kindergarten students. This will mean that kindergarten students will follow a different schedule from students in grades 1-5 for the first week of school. A letter explaining the “soft start” and the schedule for Whitmore-Bolles will be mailed to all registered kindergarten families this week. Also included in the letter will be teacher assignments for each of the kindergarten students.
Students in grades 1-5 will receive a welcome back letter prior to the Labor Day weekend outlining the first day schedule along with their class assignment. This is a different practice than years past.. each student will receive their teacher assignment by mail rather than posting them on the school doors. The hope is to save families time and allow everyone to enjoy the holiday weekend without having to come up to the school. Class lists will also be posted this year as well, just in case letters are not received. Parents will again be invited to spend some time in classrooms on the first day of school, so be sure to mark your calendars if you can attend.
As many of you may have already heard, it is true and with heavy heart that we are saying goodbye to two more of our very valued staff members. Ms. Julie Wilson and Ms. Nicole Bush have both accepted other positions within the district. They will be greatly missed and we wish them both the best in their future endeavors. In the meantime, we are working on finalizing their replacements and will share more information in the welcome back letter.
The new office is almost complete! Construction crews have been working feverishly to finish their work before the start of the new school year. It is looking promising and we are very excited to get the final word for occupancy.
