Whitmore-Bolles News

End of Year Message to our Families!

Thank you for another wonderful and productive school year.  I can’t thank everyone enough for your endless hours of volunteering, chaperoning, reading, organizing, donating and doing whatever was necessary to support students—both at home and at school.  Special thanks to our PTA who, as usual, went above and beyond the call of duty to provide whatever was necessary to add to our students’ already rich school experience.

That experience could also not occur without the endless energy, skills and devotion of the Whitmore-Bolles staff.  Thanks and well done to an incredible group of professionals.

A final word to WB students:  Thank you for all your hard work throughout the school year.  I am so honored to be your principal; you make me proud to be a Whitmore Eagle.  You keep me laughing and young at heart.  I am grateful for your joy, astute insights and amazing talents.  Best wishes to our outgoing fifth graders, whom we will miss greatly—please come back and visit.

To those of you who are leaving us for new places and adventures, we wish you all the best. Well-wishes, albeit with saddened hearts, to Ms.Chapman as she moves to new position within the district and Ms. Stawara, Ms. O’Connell, and Ms. Griffith-Buhr as they begin making new memories with their families. They’ve been a gift to us and will be greatly missed!  We wish all of you a wonderful summer, with time for rest, a change of pace, and family.

A few reminders:

Summer School

Students who have been invited to attend summer school will be attending our program at Snow Elementary.  This is a joint effort with Nowlin, Long and Snow schools.  The program runs July 30th through August 16th .  Reminder letters will be sent to participating students mid July.

Class Placements

Next year’s class placements will again be communicated before school starts on August 27th.  Although we do not accept individual teacher requests, please know that teachers advocate for and work together for the best placement of each child.  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this policy.

Kindergarten Program and Schedule

All Kindergarten students will participate in a “soft start” schedule to ease them into the school year.  This means that Kindergarten will follow a different time schedule than students in grades 1-5 for the first week of school.

Summer Office Hours/Getting in Touch

The school office will close tomorrow, June 21st at 4:00 pm but will reopen two weeks before school begins on August 13th. Should something come up between these dates, I can always be reached through email at waddelk@dearbornschools.org .

Until next school year, here’s wishing you love, laughter and learning.

Most sincerely,

Kristi Waddell, Principal
