Blessings in a Backpack holding Mac n’ Cheese fundraiser
Christ Episcopal Church will host a Mac n’ Cheese Dinner fundraiser on Tuesday, March 5th to benefit Blessings in a Backpack – Dearborn. This event promises to be a great time, and will be a great way to support this initiative to provide weekend meals to Dearborn children in need.
Join us for dinner and a casual evening with friends to raise awareness about the program and food insecurity in our community. All donations will go to Blessings in a Backpack – Dearborn’s weekend meal program. See the fundraising flyer below:
Drop in anytime for dinner between 5 to 7 pm. Suggested donation for the dinner is $8 per adult and $3 per child ages 6-12. Dinner includes: mac n’ cheese (including a vegan and gluten-free option), beef meatballs, salad, homemade dessert and choice of beverage.
Blessings in a Backpack is a 501 C (3) non-profit currently feeding more than 87,300 children in nearly 1,092 schools in 45 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. There are more than 13.1-million children in this country who are at risk of hunger. The consequences of hunger are much more than a growling stomach. Poor nutrition can result in a weaker immune system, increased hospitalization, lower IQ, shorter attention spans, and lower academic achievement. Children are fed during the school week by federal programs, but we want to make sure they’re getting nutritional meals over the weekend, too.
Blessings in a Backpack – Dearborn provides our local schoolchildren who are at risk of hunger with bags of easy-prep food for each weekend of the school year. The program currently serves more than 220 students in six Dearborn elementary schools.
