Dear Parents,
As part of our ongoing effort to keep an open line of communication with our parents, I would like to take a moment to share information regarding a situation that occurred today during dismissal time.
A student became physically uncontrollable just before dismissal in the hallway outside one of the classrooms. The behavior of the student prevented the students in one classroom from leaving their classroom. Two teachers were present in the classroom with the students, while other staff and I were in the hallway attempting to calm the student and de-escalate the behavior.
The school contacted the Dearborn Police Department for assistance in managing the student. There were several officers present to support the safety of all students. Final dismissal for those students in the classroom occurred after 4 pm.
I would like to thank the Dearborn Police Department for their swift and calm response, and the Whitmore-Bolles staff who assisted in supporting all students during this event.
Everyday, all of us at Whitmore-Bolles work to maintain a safe school environment for all students. By always working together and communicating, Whitmore-Bolles will continue to be a great school and a safe place for your child.
I appreciate the partnership of every parent and our open communication. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me directly at 313-827-6804. Thank you for your understanding and your ongoing support of our school community.
Regards,
Kristin M. Waddell
