Safety During Election Day

Greetings Whitmore Families,

Tomorrow is a big day for our state/nation! We are proud to host the primary election. With that comes the concern that our school is open while school is in session.

We have been proactive and I have met with my team to ensure student safety. Some of the precautions that we have in place are the following:

Voting will take place in the auditorium, NOT the gym. There will be barriers to rope off the two adjoining hallways. Only one door will be used by the voters.

All staff has been instructed to keep classroom doors locked at all times, to limit sending students out of the classroom by themselves or near the voting poll area and to be vigilant throughout the day.

We are closing down the restroom across from the polls. Students will be directed to other bathrooms in the building.

Bathrooms will not be available or open for public use

I have several parents and staff members along with our resource officer, and ASC visitors, who will have an active presence in the area throughout the day.

I hope this helps alleviate/address some concerns that may be lingering. If you have any concerns or questions that have not been answered in any of my communication around this issue, please feel free to call or email me.
